At the May 18 meeting of the Pagosa Springs Sanitation General Improvement District (PSSGID) board — the same elected officials who serve as the Pagosa Springs Town Council — we heard a conversation that I personally found encouraging.

The Pagosa Pickleball Club is hosting the Fall Grand Opening Tournament on September 29, 30 and October 1, to celebrate the completion of the Town of Pagosa Springs’ eight new dedicated pickleball courts.

Pagosa Peak Open School is now under the new leadership of school director Angela Reali-Crossland and we are excited to share our vision for the school with the Pagosa Springs Community.

Scene … at the 44th annual Holiday Bazaar hosted by the Pagosa Springs Realtors Community Outreach, an initiative of the Pagosa Springs Area Association of Realtors, to raise funds for local charities.

The base project involves typical asphalt maintenance methods on Archuleta County roadways including, and not limited to, North Pagosa Boulevard, South Pagosa Boulevard, Saturn Drive, Vista Boulevard, Lake Forest, and Meadows Drive.

The building served as a stop for the train, which ran between Pagosa Junction and Pagosa Springs.

The Pagosa Springs Community Band will begin rehearsals on Monday, Sept.11, in the Pagosa Springs High School Band room at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 6, the Pagosa Springs Girls Choir (PSGC) will present its annual holiday concert, “Christmas in Pagosa” at the Community United Methodist Church.

We call it Band-O-Rama because in addition to the Community Band, we also feature the Pagosa Springs High School and Pagosa Springs Middle School bands.

Ditto, the reasons why the largest water reservoir in the U.S. — Lake Mead — is less than and why that might have important implications for us, here in Pagosa Springs.

EDITORIAL: Are STRs Bad for Pagosa?

Father Samuel Auta, pastor of the Pagosa Catholic Community, will lead the procession bearing the cross, with others carrying crosses as well, depicting the journey Jesus took leading to His crucifixion.

He also purchased several downtown properties that didn’t fit his ideas about Pagosa’s future, and he demolished the buildings, to help make way for a ‘better’ downtown.
