After Ouattara’s announcement, an MP from Bedie’s Ivorian Democratic Party (PDCI), Veronique Aka, said the president had “freed everyone”.

This agreement includes Bédié's PDCI and Gbagbo's FPI, and movements led by former prime minister and national assembly speaker Guillaume Soro and former minister and youth leader Charles Blé Goudé.

Houphouët-Boigny first came to political prominence in 1944 as founder of the Syndicat Agricole Africain, an organization that won improved conditions for African farmers and formed a nucleus for the PDCI.
