Penitentiaries

The minors who lived in the institutions, which were similar to youth penitentiaries, were considered juvenile delinquents or "neglected wards" and were held under child welfare legislation.

A prison orderly, who is serving a jail term for buggery and rape, and two prison officers at the Timehri and New Amsterdam Prisons have been implicated in the smuggling of marijuana into those penitentiaries.

In 2011, he filed a case against the Attorney General of Canada seeking a transfer to a penitentiary with a lower security level than the maximum- and medium-security penitentiaries he had been incarcerated in since 2000.
