Incarcerated in Pollsmoor, Cape Town’s notorious maximum security prison, “I battled with the question ‘Who am I?’” he remembers.

The case is expected to start at 10.30am due to delays in transporting Kelly to court from Pollsmoor prison in Cape Town.

This comes after Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald referred the decision of the Pollsmoor Correctional Supervision and Parole Board to place Petersen on parole to the Correctional Supervision and Parole Review Board (CSPRB).

Mandela served 27 years in prison, split between three prisons namely; Robben Island, Pollsmoor and Victor Verster.

After his hospitalization in 1989, they separated him from his fellow prisoners at Pollsmoor, moving him to a fully-furnished house at Victor Verster prison, offering an excited Mandela the privilege of his family moving in with him.

Zenani said going to Pollsmoor was something she would not wish on anyone.
