Protoplasmic

A protoplasmic fiber runs from the cell body and branches profusely, with some parts transmitting signals and other parts receiving signals.

Dendrites are one of two types of protoplasmic protrusions that extrude from the cell body of a neuron, the other type being an axon.

They send these signals by means of an axon, which is a thin protoplasmic fiber that extends from the cell body and projects, usually with numerous branches, to other areas, sometimes nearby, sometimes in distant parts of the brain or body.

This is the fundamental basis of the protoplasmic theory of life.

Within each protoplasmic strand the cytoplasmic contents rapidly stream.

Without such a stain, brain tissue under a microscope appears as an impenetrable tangle of protoplasmic fibers, in which it is impossible to determine any structure.
