Sagarmala

A draft under the ‘Sagarmala innovation and start-up policy’ was recently put up for discussion and stakeholder comments.

This Sagarmala project will connect the seven historic temples namely Kamakhya, Pandunath, Ashwaklanta, Doul Govinda, Umananda, Chakreshwar and Auniati Satra situated in Guwahati.

With the government committed to investing $82 billion in port projects by 2035 and plans for six new mega-ports under Sagarmala, the sector is poised for further expansion.

Experts expect the government to earmark at least Rs three lakh crore for urban infrastructure and Sagarmala projects that focus on port-led development.

It disincentivises movement via Rail Cum Sea Route and ultimately affect coastal shipments so as to Sagarmala initiatives.
