Sakellaropoulou

BERN – President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, as part of her visit to Switzerland, met on Monday with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Orthodox Centre of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, in Chambésy.

In the evening, at 8:30 PM, the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, will host an official dinner in honor of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Presidential Mansion.

Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the current president of Greece since 13 March 2020, is the first female elected by parliament to serve in the highest political office in the country.

After the swearing-in, Sakellaropoulou lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the square outside parliament, before a presidential honor guard.

Sakellaropoulou was born in Thessaloniki in 1956 and completed her studies at the University of Athens Law School in 1978.
