Savorgnan

Count Savorgnan de Brazza established the French Congo and sent expeditions up the Ubangi River from Brazzaville in an effort to expand France's claims to territory in Central Africa.

French explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza led his first mission to the Gabon-Congo area in 1875.

In the same year, the Rezzonico family celebrated Ludovico Rezzonico's marriage into the powerful Savorgnan family.

When years later, half-paralyzed from a battle-wound, he wrote Giulietta e Romeo in Montorso Vicentino (from where he could see the "castles" of Verona ), he dedicated the novella to bellisima e leggiadra madonna Lucina Savorgnan.
