As the movie was filmed, the iconic disco dance scenes were shot as the actors danced to the music of Boz Scaggs and Stevie Wonder.

Over the years, the gala has featured musicians the likes of Sara Bareilles, Boz Scaggs, Chantal Kreviazuk, Holly Cole, Jim Cuddy, Jann Arden, Jewel, Melissa Etheridge and Walk Off The Earth.

Colorado Springs Police considered Scaggs to be dangerous when he was wanted in connection to a burglary in 2018.

It’s an unusual, unexpected choice, all the more impressive when Scaggs gets underneath the dark, introspective, often unsettling lyrics of a protagonist who feels like a loner in the world he has created.

Now 74 and still crooning like a songbird, his supple voice in great shape, Scaggs was down-to-earth and personable, endearing himself to the crowd early with a quip about seeking asylum in Canada.

According to the DVD commentary for Saturday Night Fever, the producers intended to use the song "Lowdown" by Boz Scaggs in the rehearsal scene between Tony and Annette in the dance studio, and choreographed their dance moves to the song.
