The couple have been together for 25 years and have remained passionate about designing the pub in their image and style, even including a huge Scalextric track.

The money saved will be used to build a Scalextric track for the Sixth Form Common Room, and a remote control helicopter for the use of the Head Boy.

Elsewhere in this six-bedroom chalet is a marble hammam, a vast wine cellar, a cheese room, and even an adult-sized Scalextric that takes up to eight players.

Scalextric was invented by Fred Francis in 1956, who founded Minimodels in Havant; initially the model cars had been clockwork ; it was made from 1967 at Triang in Margate.
