The Congress has also appointed tribal leader Uman Singhar as the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly and Hemant Katare as the deputy leader.

Singhar further said that Madhya Pradesh has been declared as a Tiger State.

Singhar, who is seen as leaning towards Jyotiraditya Scindia, tries to project himself as independent of any camp in the state Congress and close to Rahul Gandhi.

Umang Singhar, a close aide of Scindia and state Forest Minister, had earlier accused former chief minister Digvijaya Singh of running the state government from behind the curtains while calling him a ‘blackmailer’.
