Somain

Aluminium sulfate is made by reacting bauxite with sulfuric acid: : 2 Al O (OH) + 3 Hmain SOmain → Almain (SOmain )main + 4 Hmain O Sulfuric acid is also important in the manufacture of dyestuffs solutions.

This combustion process produces gaseous sulfur dioxide ( SOmain ) and sulfur trioxide ( SOmain ) which are then used to manufacture "new" sulfuric acid.

This compound oxidizes sulfur dioxide ( SOmain ) to the trioxide ( SOmain ).

Hydrochloric acid ( HCl ) and sulfuric acid ( Hmain SOmain ) are common examples.

Native alumen from Melos appears to have been a mixture mainly of alunogen ( Almain (SOmain )main ·17H 2 O ) with alum and other minor sulfates.
