Soreng

The Wildlife Range Soreng, within the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary under the West Wildlife Division, had been inundated with complaints from residents of various villages in the Soreng District.

According to Soreng District Superintendent of Police, Nakul Pradhan, the accused, Hemchandra Rai, had fled the scene after killing his wife.

Eugene Soreng, from ‘Adivasi Drishyam’ which co-produced the event to launch the book and the music album, said that the projects exemplified how Adivasi communities traditionally documented experiences.

They also informed the Chief Minister about setting up one of their branches in Soreng, West Sikkim in the coming days.

Soreng said the president, vice-president, treasurer, literary secretary and cultural secretary of the executive body of the Union have decided to withdraw the agitation and resume studies.
