Without discussion, Baltimore City’s spending board approved $900,000 in workers’ compensation benefits for the family of Detective Sean Suiter.

Another controversial case, which occurred during Smith’s tenure was the death of Detective Sean Suiter.

Back in May, the family said they believed Det. Suiter’s death was a murder, “an inside job,” orchestrated by nefarious individuals, perhaps even members of the BPD, or those loyal to notorious members of the department.

Authorities have said there’s no evidence to suggest that Suiter’s scheduled testimony in the federal investigation led to his killing.

A woman was the driver of a horse with buggy down Suiter Road when the horse got spooked for an unknown reason, and took off running wildly.

But, Suiter declined to talk to the FBI about other allegations that he participated in robberies when they worked together in the Western District in 2008 according to Gondo.

Defense attorney Jeremy Eldridge, who was representing Sean Suiter, said the review board had selectively chosen partial information to reach the conclusion they did.

Scott says he is in the process of combing through the evidence listed in the IRB report that led to the unanimous finding that Suiter committed suicide while on duty last November.

Up until this point, Suiter’s widow has not commented much publicly but on the heels of the report finding his death a suicide, she said she will not allow the city to shame her husband’s name.

With a 207 page final report finally made public, an independent review board’s investigation into the death of Sean Suiter closed.
