Sureties

A bench of Justices Mukta Gupta and Poonam A Bamba suspended the sentence from January 27 to February 10 and asked Sengar to furnish two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each and report to the SHO concerned on a daily basis during this period.

Chief Magistrate M.O. Tanimola admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Known as “sureties,” these are people who make a pledge to monitor an accused’s bail conditions and report any violations back to police.

Magistrate L.J.K Layeni admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Following her plea of not guilty, Magistrate O.A. Akokhia, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Further conditions of the bail demanded that the sureties must submit two passport photographs with the court registrar as well as provide evidence of tax clearance for the last three years.

He admitted Ayokunbi to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the matter until July 21 for hearing.
