A grievance letter told Swissport about a "failure of duty of care" under the and Safety at Work Regulations.

Adjudicator John Harraghy noted that the representatives sent by Swissport to the WRC hearing last month stated that they had “no knowledge” of what happened other than what was stated in the dismissal letter issued to Mr Collins.

A Swissport spokesman promised a “full and thorough” investigation into the cause of the incident.

The lounge, which is run in partnership with global aviation service provider Swissport, has recently had a makeup and now offers a three-tier lounge.

He said the union would meet the mediators in the morning ahead of the expected resumption of talks with Swissport.

Swissport’s local managers and staff from across the country are currently filling the roles of the striking workers.
