A statement signed on Wednesday, February 7, by Sylva’s special adviser, media and publicity, Julius Bokoru, said Chief Sylva remained very much in line with President Tinubu’s economic policies.

Also, the National Chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje described Sylva as a refined technocrat and politician who was committed to transforming and redefining the political, economic and developmental landscape of the State.

But Sylva in a counter affidavit insisted that the plaintiff’s suit was based on falsehood and an attempt to ridicule his person.

Okorowo ruled that Sylva, having been sworn in twice and ruled for five years as governor of the state, would breach the 1999 constitution as amended if allowed to contest again.

On Monday, October 9, Justice Okorowo, in his ruling, said Sylva had been sworn in on two different occasions and has governed for five years and, therefore, cannot be sworn in for the third time.

Recall that the court held that Sylva, having been sworn in twice and ruled for five years as Governor of the State, would breach the 1999 constitution if allowed to contest again.

She stated that her husband, Chief Timipre Sylva, is on a rescue mission with the requisite experience, vast contact within and outside the country to attract development to the state.

Sylva had taken oath of office twice and served for almost 5 years.

Sylva, who recently served as the minister of state for petroleum resources under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, was governor in Bayelsa between 2008 to 2012.

That includes Sylva, who now is forced to launch out of Hilo for four-day fishing trips, spending up to $800 per voyage.

The African Examiner recalls that on Friday that there was controversy concerning the resignation of Sylva, as senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources declined to comment to confirm whether their boss had resigned or not.

The Federal Government has approved the retirement of Mr Sylva Okolieaboh, the Acting Accountant-General of the Federation () based on the notice of retirement he submitted on April 13, 2023.

There is however a sense in which it can be said that Timipre Sylva has always been a writer in politics.
