That signaled that US troops may remain in Manbij, along the Euphrates River and at the strategic bastion of Al-Tanf in Southern Syria near the Jordanian, Iraqi and Israeli Golan frontiers.

The al-Tanf military base is strategically located in southeastern Syria on the border between Syria, Iraq and Jordan, and it sits on a critically important Damascus-Baghdad highway, which serves as a lifeline for Damascus.

As we’ve noted previously, even as the number of families in poverty has increased, Maine has actually cut back by two-thirds on the assistance it provides through TANF.

Attacking with those types of weapons in a specific campaign against the US protected area at At Tanf would be a significant escalation in the sporadic violence in the area.

States developed systems in the 1990s to implement work requirements for welfare called the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) but the scale of Medicaid is significantly larger now.

The At Tanf deconfliction zone sits in the middle of a major connection between Tehran and Damascus.
