Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), another political outfit born post-anti CAA movement, also organized a memorial meeting at Panitola in Tinsukia district.

Tinsukia District Commissioner Swapneel Paul said that apart from local authorities, NDRF and SDRF have been engaged in the search and rescue operations to find out the miners.

The first phase of the final operation to plug well number 5 at Oil India Limited (OIL)’s Baghjan oilfield in Assam’s Tinsukia district — where a blowout occurred in May — was successful on Monday after two failed attempts earlier.

The ULFA-I claimed responsibility for four of these blasts, which occurred within a span of 15 minutes, besides another in Tinsukia district.

Dibrugarh and Tinsukia railway stations have been put on high alert.

Popularly known in Assamese as Gandheli, the plant species, Nothapodytes nimmoniana, was rediscovered by Forest Officer Jatindra Sarma recently in the Borjan area in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district.

The L2 hospitals will maintain the surgery standards and will be set up in Goalpara, Haflong, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Golaghat, Darrang, Nalbari, Sivasagar and Tinsukia.
