Tostig seems to have been a favourite with the king and queen, who demanded that the revolt be suppressed, but neither Harold nor anyone else would fight to support Tostig.

According to the Abingdon version of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle : "1053: In this year the king was at Winchester at Easter, and with him earl Godwin and earl Harold, his son, and Tostig.
