MANILA, Philippines — A toxics watchdog group on Thursday warned Filipinos anew to refrain from using mercury-tainted cosmetic products made in Pakistan.

Several hazards associated with intensive oil production, including air toxics, water pollutants, noise and excessive lighting, may each affect health differently.

They also emit carbon monoxide, air toxics, and greenhouse gases, and they stir particles into the air, contributing to particle pollution.

Another block group near the highway interchange is also a minority neighborhood with chronic exposure to diesel emissions and other air toxics.

A recent lawsuit filed by the nonprofit Council for Education and Research in Toxics alleges that coffee shops in California “failed to provide clear and reasonable warning” that their product could expose people to acrylamide.

State standards were strengthened in order to protect public health from toxics like PCBs.

This dangerous new “Air Toxics Loophole” was issued without opportunity for public comment, and with consideration of its public health or air pollution impacts.

In August 2006, Greenpeace released the first edition of Guide to Greener Electronics, a magazine where the companies were ranked for their green performance, mainly based in the use of toxics in their products and the e-waste.

Through the program a coalition of federal agencies is making grants to local and state entities for toxics cleanups, wetlands and coastline restoration projects, and invasive species-related projects.
