Twelvers

According to the theology of Twelvers, the successor of Muhammad is an infallible human individual who not only rules over the community with justice but also is able to keep and interpret the divine law and its esoteric meaning.

However, there is also a group called Zaidi Wasītīs who are Twelvers (see below).

The largest branch are the Twelvers, followed by the Zaidi and Ismaili.

The twelfth and final imam is Muhammad al-Mahdi, who is believed by the Twelvers to be currently alive and in occultation.

Twelver main Twelver Shia or the Ithnā'ashariyyah' is the largest branch of Shia Islam, and the term Shia Muslim often refers to the Twelvers by default.
