Germany's Lennard Kamna soloed to victory on stage nine of the Vuelta a Espana to complete his set of wins in Grand Tours on Sunday (Sep 3) as Sepp Kuss retained the overall leader's red jersey.

Woods hit the front in the final ramp up towards the line, also looking for his second Vuelta stage win this year.

La Vuelta is one of the leading cycling races in the international calendar.

Meanwhile, cycling's governing body the UCI has that 2011 Vuelta a Espana champion Juan Jose Cobo had been found guilty of an anti-doping violation.

Nairo Quintana crossed the line first in Calpe to win the second stage of the Vuelta.

Roglič claimed the red jersey of la Vuelta in stage 10, becoming the first Slovenian to win a stage at all three grand tours and only the 99th cyclist to do so.

Roglic was considered the pre-race favorite, after other top riders such as Tour winners Egan Bernal and Geraint Thomas and last year’s Vuelta winner Simon Yates opted not to compete in the race.

Roglic won the Vuelta after wearing the red leader’s jersey for the final 11 days, finishing more than two minutes ahead of world champion and former winner Alejandro Valverde.

The Irishman, remember, has already won two stages at this year's Vuelta and is currently man to beat in the sprints, but will he pay the price of having no team-mates with him throughout what has been a very tough day in the saddle?

The year's Vuelta is without many top names, including defending champion Simon Yates, Tour de France winner Egan Bernal and Giro d'Italia winner Richard Carapaz.

For the 2018 Vuelta a España winner, Simon Yates, the shorter, steeper climbs of Spain look more suitable, along with the less controlled style of racing that is seen in the Giro d’Italia.
