Walkerton

WALKERTON – There was a lot of activity with euchre and solo at the Walkerton library this past week.

Fortunately, no one in Michigan has died, as happened in Walkerton, Ontario, nor have hundreds of people gotten sick, as happened in Put-in-Bay, Ohio.

High Schools in Westland and Bay City, Michigan ; Walkerton, Indiana ; San Angelo, Texas ; Elwood, Long Island, New York ; and Norwalk, California were also named after him.

Seven people died directly from drinking the E. coli contaminated water, who might have been saved if the Walkerton Public Utilities Commission had admitted to contaminated water sooner, and about 2,500 became ill.
