Whispery

I’ve long suspected that Raab is putting on that weirdly whispery voice and now I know why – he’s hoping no-one actually hears what he’s saying.

On his fifth album, Lil Yachty trades his bubblegum trap sound for krautrock-inspired synths, electric guitars, and whispery psych-rock vocals.

If the arytenoid cartiledges are parted to admit turbulent airflow, the result is whisper phonation if the vocal folds are adducted, and whispery voice phonation (murmur) if the vocal folds vibrate modally.

The IPA uses the term "breathy voice" while VoQS uses the term "whispery voice".
