Yonatan

Gross was freed on June 4, 1976, during “Operation Entebbe,” the infamous Israeli rescue mission during which then-Sayeret Matkal commander Yonatan Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s brother, perished.

The Yakovemkos said they have found a warm welcome, including at Berlin’s robust Chabad center, but also miss a lot about Ukraine, where Yonatan’s parents and many friends remain.

Asher and Yonatan, both American citizens, were killed in the crash.

Beyond the kibbutz gate, Yonatan pulled up to what remained of his mother’s house, its walls covered in burn marks.

On Oct. 7 and the following days, the dairy farmers Reuven Heinik from Kibbutz Kissufim, Yiftach Gorny from Be’er Milka, Dror Or from Kibbutz Be’eri, Ofek Arazi from Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, and Yonatan Hajabi from Mikhini were murdered.

Until the accident, Yonatan was a husband, father, hard worker, and G-d fearing Jew.

Dr. Yonatan Tzur and associate Dr. Hanna Achache, along with scientists at Harvard Medical School, studied egg maturation in roundworms and published their findings in the scientific journal Genetics.

In 1976, his brother, Yonatan, was killed while commanding a Special Forces rescue operation to free Israeli hostages in Uganda.

A city by this name located in Israel does appear, however, in Targum Onkelos, Targum Yonatan, Mishnah, Babylonian Talmud and several Midrashim.

Weizmann lived near Yonatan Netanyahu's apartment in Jerusalem, where Netanyahu was based during his military service.
