Ho, May 20, GNA - Sarki Yushau Turawa, Ho Zongo Chief, has appealed to government to offer soft loans to Zongo women for business.

Since the death of Norbert Zongo, several protests regarding the Zongo investigation and treatment of journalists have been prevented or dispersed by government police and security forces.

He noted that under his stewardship, there are about 3,000 Zongo communities across the country and he sees himself as a shepherd.

He said government was on course to fulfilling all the promises it made to the Zongo Communities during the electioneering in 2016 and would never disappoint them.

The Nasara is a wing of the NPP mostly focused on canvassing votes within Zongo or Muslim communities across Ghana and also championing the development of those communities.

He added that the candidates argued that the displaced pictures on the ballot papers would mislead their supporters and, therefore, asked for a postponement of the election in the Moshie Zongo Electoral Area.

He will, therefore, under no circumstance contemplate the thought of engineering a situation that would create dissatisfaction for the party within the Zongo enclave.

The national NASARA coordinator of the New Patriotic Party, Aziz Harunah Futah has commended president Akufo-Addo for the release of cash (¢109m) to develop Zongo communities in the country.

The project under the auspices of the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development is the first of its kind in the hometown of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia after several decades of sporting activities being held on a rocky football park.

He was accompanied by the Regional Minister, Hon Dr Kwaku Afriyie, his deputy Eugenia Kusi, Minister for Zongo Development Hon Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique and other government and NPP officials.

In July this year, hundreds of youth from the Zongo community trooped to Kumasi Central Mosque to register their displeasure over the killings of the seven youth.

Mr Ibrahim explained that the Zongo community has lost confidence in the Police following the incident.

Some of the areas visited are Amrahia New Town Zongo, Prison Junction, Frafraha and Animal Research Commando.

The communities are James Town, Bukom, Aayalolo (Arena) Trotro Station, Zabon Zongo and Abossey Okai to create awareness and to encourage the people to go for screening to know their health status.

We at this newspaper, do not expect the new minister of Zongo and Inner City Development, Mustapha Hamid, to see this incident as business as usual.
