A lifeboat operations manager at Porthdinllaen’s lifeboat station, Kenneth has been awarded a BEM for “services to maritime safety”.

A provisional date has been set for the painted tribute of the Ernest and Mabel lifeboat which will go on the side of the Custom House Café - which is almost directly opposite the RNLI’s Weymouth Lifeboat Station.

Hays saved Lady by wrapping the dog in a blanket when she went aboard lifeboat number 7. It's likely the lifeboat crew thought the bundled dog was a baby.

Immediately after, Reverend Kevin Lake led the service of dedication, a symbolic gesture of blessing and acceptance, trailed by a heartfelt thank-you speech from Bill Kitchen, the lifeboat operations manager at Barry Dock Lifeboat Station.

Next door is The Old Lifeboat House, housing a 1901 lifeboat.

Seventy eight of those were on the inshore lifeboat and 34 on the all-weather lifeboat.

The lifeboat station is hosting Lifeboat Day from 10am until 4pm.

Volunteer lifeboat operations manager Steve Clarke presented the medals to the volunteers who were members of the lifeboat crew with five years of service at the time of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in May 2023.

Cal Reed, Aberdeen Lifeboat’s coxswain, said: “We took the surfers onboard Bon Accord and our casualty care-qualified crew confirmed they were none the worse for their experience – but grateful for the offer of assistance from the lifeboat.

Oban Lifeboat Station is one of the busiest all weather lifeboat stations in the UK, operating 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

Posting on the Arbroath Lifeboat Facebook page, Deputy Launching Authority Peter Anelli praised the actions of the lifeboat volunteers.

A spokesman for the lifeboat crew said during an incident yesterday in which a man entered the water from the Tay Road Bridge, and was met by emergency services including the lifeboat, Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland.

Oban Lifeboat Station’s all-weather Trent-class lifeboat – RNLB Mora Edith MacDonald – is capable of 25 knots and has a range of 250 nautical miles.

Mike is currently the Lifeboat Press Officer, a member of the local Visits Team, Education Team and Community Safety Team, and as a new task this year has also become a Visits Guide at the Inshore Lifeboat Centre in East Cowes.

Port Talbot also has an Inshore Lifeboat, which is part of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

After recovering the Y boat and being released from service, the lifeboat returned to station, arriving back at 12.48pm.

A further update from HM Coastguard suggested that the yacht was still secured on a mooring, so the lifeboat was stood down and returned to Greenfield for recovery.

An RNLI Islay Lifeboat Station statement, said: “Chris stopped by last night to capture the crew on our exercise up to Bunnahabhain.

An RNLI spokesperson said: "The RNLI is currently managing periods of reduced all-weather lifeboat cover at RNLI.

A post on the RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station Facebook page said: "Hoylakes hovercraft, 'Hurley Spirit', was tasked to launch by the UK Coastguard at 6.15pm yesterday to reports of a vehicle stuck in the sand at Leasowe Bay as the tide was fast approaching.
