The first class promenade, meanwhile, was almost completely free of lifeboats, meaning the first class passengers could stroll and admire clear views of the Atlantic on either side.

The tracking data also suggests that two RNLI lifeboats and a search and rescue helicopter remain at the scene as of 1pm.

Centred around Bridlington RNLI Lifeboat Station, on The Spa Promenade, events will start on Saturday, July 20, including a music event hosted by Bridlington Gold Radio on the lifeboats’ turning circle.

HM Coastguard sent helicopters from Inverness and Stornoway to the incident and were supported by volunteers who came with lifeboats from Troon and Arran.

Ian, who is an RNLI volunteer and station manager at the Gravesend Lifeboat Station, has curated the exhibition’s collection of historic lifeboats.
